Description / Profile
Bodie is an authentic Californian gold-mining town, no longer home to prospectors the site is a tourist attraction bringing many visitors every year to experience the decaying remains of times gone by. The park is named after William Bodey who discovered gold there in 1875. Many remnants of gold mining’s past remain atop and below the soil at Bodie which can tempt a visitor to take home a souvenir, not only is this illegal and frowned upon but if you do legend has it old Bodey himself will set a curse on you.
