A Lovers Spirit - Ghosts of Castillo San Cristobal

The ghosts of two lovers haunts this fortress built to defend Puerto Rico against foreign invaders. Legend has it that Maria Dolores, the local executioners daughter fell in love with a thief named Bentancourt. Unbeknownst to Maria Bentancourt is captured and executed by the father. Tragically Maria only finds out about her lovers death when she discovers his lifeless body hanging from the gallows. Overcome with grief she hangs herself on the same gallows that very moment. Soldiers guarding the fort have been known to disappear without a trace and never return as well.
