The Stone House Spirits

As far as we know there are no remnants of this place in Sassafras mid-northern Tasmania left. For many years this home was left to decay. People and animals alike would stay away from the place, where a general eerie feeling and malevolent force was said to reside there. One legend has a man and his dog visited the stone house, where he stayed for a period of time. After a while the little dog became agitated and leaped to protect the man from an unseen force. When the visitor turned his torch on it revealed the lifeless body of his poor much loved pet. He made a hasty exit, leaving his best friends body in the house of horrors.

Another story states that a group of Tasmanian rangers military unit were riding past the abandoned house and as they approached heard the most blood curdling noises. They got as close as they dare, but were too frightened to go in. It is later suggested that this was possibly the result of local teens mucking around and playing practical jokes?
